Eva Reviews Her Acer Aspire 5515![]() It has a 15 inch screen, AMD Athlon Processor 1.60 GHz, 3 gb ram, 140 gb hard drive and a CD drive. It has 2 USB ports and an Ethernet jack. It has a built-in microphone, plus it has an external microphone and headphone jack. It comes with a plug-in charger. The battery life is ok, about 2 hours. Plus it has a place to plug an external monitor into it. My Aspire 5515 came with the Windows Vista operating system, 60 day trial version of Microsoft Office and a ton of windows programs like: photo gallery, defender, calendar, movie maker and media player. It is fast enough for the games it came loaded with. There are a slew of games to try out. It also has the standard freecell, spider and solitaire. It can play movies and CDs. It has plenty of storage for my photos, music and videos. This Acer's speed it great for downloading and going online. I can use the external monitor jack to hook my tv up to my laptop and view movies I've downloaded or pictures family has sent to me. It is small enough to tote around from place to place. The 15.4 inch screen is a perfect size for me, not too big, not too small. The sound is ok for a laptop, though lacking some bottom in the bass. Of course, one of the biggest turn offs is the temporary programs installed. After 60 days, I had to purchase the Office suite. After I downloaded games for the kids, like Perfect World, Mythwar and Call of Duty, I noticed a dramatic slow down in speed. Sometimes I can't get large downloaded movies to play without skipping and stuttering, but perhaps I need to defrag my hard drive or move some of the files I have on the 5515 as they are taking up a lot of space. I recently had to replace the battery and charger as it failed just past the 1 year warranty. It set me back $183.00. Overall Opinion For the money, it was a great bargain. It had everything I needed and then some at the time, but admittedly I'm a basic user. The price was perfect, and overall I've been pleased with the quality of Acer's product, but the battery failing was a big let down. If you have an extensive movie collection or want to play lots of modern games this Aspire 5515 is probably not for you.
