Still this didn't make Eva bitter or dim her enthusiastic recommendation of the 5515. |

An overview of the Aspire Timeline 1810T Sunday, December 20, 2009 Modern computing has always been a story of trying to strike the correct balance between size and power. In the current generation of technology the conflict most keenly shows up in the division between so called full power notebooks and highly compact little netbooks. The former generally support greater functionality, while the latter allow for an unprecedented ease of travel. Then there are machines like Acer's Aspire Timeline 1810T, which show that the distinctions between the two categories can be entirely imaginary. |

Acer's Laptop Line Acer has three main product lines in this category that are each geared for slightly different markets. Travelmate The travel mate line of notebook computers are designed specifically for people who have to travel quite frequently for business purposes, and need a computer to bring along with them. They're made to be durable enough to handle a busy travel schedule. Generally speaking, products in this line have very powerful processors, but don't have that much ram or hard drive space. This makes them ideal for business purposes. Aspire The Aspire line of notebook are Acer's mainline laptop computers. They're designed for the average consumer, offering a nice mix of power, portability, and multimedia capability. They come in a wide range of configurations, with approximately 40 separate models available. In general they're designed with plenty of ram, and lots of hard drive space, but they're a little weaker when it comes to processing power. Extensa The Extensa series is billed as a notebook for busy professionals, and in terms of specs, they seem to be a compromise between the other two models, offering more processing power than the Aspire series, and more storage than the Travelmate line. Acer's Netbook Line Significantly smaller and more portable than their notebooks, these are made primarily for simple Internet functionality while on the go, however specifications are vastly improving. Aspire Following in the tradition of the Aspire notebook series, these are basic systems with all the required functionality you could ask for. Most models offer a surprising amount of ram and hard drive space considering their small physical profile. Ferrari The Ferrari series is currently only comprised of a single model. It has a striking red color, with a Ferrari insignia on the back. The Ferrari has exceptional specs for a netbook, with all the bells and whistles you could ask for on such a small system. |
