Loving the LightScribe - The HP G71-329WM

HP G71-329WM
I purchased an HP G71-329WM notebook computer at the Thanksgiving sale at Wal-Mart in november 2009. First, spending only $398 for a laptop that is usually priced at about $650 was an amazing deal. the 2.2GHz Intel Celeron dual-core processor is fast. Coupled with 4GB of RAM, I am able to have several programs up and running at the same time with no lag.

I am now using this laptop as a replacement for my aging desktop computer. The wide 17.3 inch LED screen and full keyboard with number pad makes it feel like I am still working on a desktop.
The picture is so Clear I can now watch DVD's on my laptop anywhere. Just over 2 hours of battery life means I have to take a power supply with me if I want to travel with my G71-329WM, a small inconvenience. The built-in wireless adapter (802.11b/g WLAN) and ethernet port allow me to get online anywhere there is a Wi-fi connection. The DVD-RW drive with Lightscribe lets me make my own DVD's and music CD's, and even label them in the same drive. This could be good for an independent musician or band looking to burn their own music demos to sell at gigs.

The Windows 7 operating system and 320GB Hard drive make this computer very easy to use. The large hard drive allows me to store the multitude of manuals I use for work (over 15 GB) and not compromise my computer's memory. The operating system starts up fast and doesn't bog down when I have several programs running at once. The three USB 2.0 ports make connecting extra devices like a mouse, bluteooth adapter and jump drives easy.

I have only noticed one drawback with the HP G71-329WM. The large screen size, while nice to use, makes it difficult to find an inexpensive carrying case or sleeve. I use a 17 inch neoprene sleeve, and it fits, but it's a bit tight. That glitch aside, overall this is a very nice laptop computer that does everything I need.
