Ebay's Bargain Bin Bonanza - Macbook MB061LL/B

It came with Snow Leopard and all the customary software toys like iTunes, Photo Booth, and iChat. I use it for graphics and video editing, system intensive stuff, and it launches software quickly, doesn't lag during use, and boots up in just over 30 seconds.

Why Joe Likes His Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 0196

The Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 0196 is a great size, weighing about 4 pounds. It's easy to carry around since it's not heavy at all. The processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 and has been running amazing since I've had it.

That'll Do Nicely - My Dell Inspiron 15

My Dell came with Windows 7 Home Premium, 4 GB of memory, a 6-cell battery, an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD video card, and high definition audio. I purchased this Inspiron 15 for approximately $560.00 from Best Buy and was aided by a knowledgeable salesperson that helped match this notebook to my current needs.

Terry's Netbook Has a Big Heart - HP Mini 5102

Again, this is a wonderful machine that is extremely portable, very light yet powerful. I find myself grabbing it whenever I'm headed out instead of my older 17 inch laptop.

Keep Your Grubby Hands Off My Satellite L305-S5933

The high gloss finish of the plastic on my Toshiba laptop is extremely prone to fingerprints, so my Satellite L305 often appears dirty and smudged.

Digging My Dell Vostro 1500 Despite Dodgy Battery

The only problem I encountered, is that the battery did not last very long. Not just charge life, but the actual lifespan of the battery. I went about 15 months before the battery died on me, which meant that I could have the laptop plugged in, but as soon as the cord would accidentally get knocked out, I had about 10 minutes of charge to work on until my Dell Vostro 1500 would shut down.

Tougher than a $4 Steak? Gateway MX6433

Weighing around 6lbs I like my Gateway MX6433's robust character. It has endured several falls as well as an angry friend who slammed the top down so hard he cracked the LCD display. Other than replacing the 15.4 inch display I've had no other hardware issues.

Loving the LightScribe - The HP G71

What is LightScribe! I hear you cry. Alas, it's not a light saber wielding Jedi Knight, it's an optical disc recording technology that uses specially coated recordable CDs and DVDs to produce laser-etched labels. With that in mind, it seems this HP G71 would be an ideal notebook for a cash strapped band or independent musician looking to burn demos to giveaway, or cds to sell at gigs.

Andrew Wolffing Howls For The Sony Vaio E Series

For the cash I spent, this is a fine notebook with all the latest hardware from an often overlooked brand. I only bought it recently so the long term verdict is still out, but if you're in the market for a new, middle of the pack laptop, this E-Series incarnation of the Sony Vaio is worth a look.

10 Hours Of Battery Life With The Asus 1005HA

The 6-cell battery on this 1005HA was the main reason Jacob purchased it, and it does not disappoint. He typically gets 10 hours of battery life between charges.

For the money, it was a great bargain. It had everything I needed and then some, but admittedly I'm a basic user. The price was perfect, and overall I've been pleased with the quality of Acer's product, but the battery failing was a big let down.
