Samsung NC10: The Netbook That Could

Samsung's NC10 netbook
I bought my blue Samsung NC10 netbook for $360 about 6 months ago, and it is one of the most useful purchases I've made. I take it everywhere with me, including on a backpacking trip to Central America, and it has held up wonderfully.

The NC10 features a 10.2" screen, a 1.6Ghz intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 160gb hard drive. I found that the 1GB of ram the netbook comes with was slighly low for my needs and invested in a 2GB chip instead. Other than that, my NC10 is stock.
Like all netbooks, the Samsung NC10 is very light, but there are two main features that make the NC10 stand out from other netbooks I have used. The nearly full-scale keyboard makes typing much easier than on other brands I've tested. After a day or two of typing, I stopped noticing the keyboard entirely and now it just feels natural. The battery life is fantastic. It has survived 5-6 hour plane rides without dying. I almost never have to worry about running out of power, even if it isn't fully charged; I just grab it and go.

People often ask me if I find the netbook actually usable, or if I have to constantly scroll and play with the screen to get it to work properly. Web surfing is great, but sometimes scrolling through long Word documents can be irritating. Youtube and other video sites can be choppy when unplugged due to CPU throttling (fixed with a button press, but annoying).

Despite these minor setbacks, the NC10 has usurped all my other computers as my machine of choice. I barely touch my larger laptop or Desktop PC these days. The Samsung NC10 is the best computer I've ever bought.
