Toshiba L505-GS5037 - Nice But No Gaming Chariot |
![]() |
I enjoy my L505-GS5037, even if the name is a little longwinded. After looking at several laptops for traveling and working outside my home, I settled on this Toshiba Satellite L505. I purchased it from Amazon.com for just under six hundred dollars. Amazon shipped it promptly and it was well-packaged. The 2.13 gigahertz Intel Core i3-330M dual-core processor is quick and capable. The dual-core technology splits up the processing workload, letting the laptop work more efficiently. |

The four gigabytes of RAM allows me to simultaneously run even multiple programs with ease. The 15.6-inch high-definition TruBrite display gives off rich colors and has a decent viewing angle. And with a five hundred gigabyte hard drive, I can store thousands of mp3 songs and still have plenty of hard drive space left over to save work documents. The mouse-pad works surprisingly well for a laptop, and has multi-touch capabilities. However, I have three main problems with the Satellite L505-GS5037. The integrated graphics are alright for watching a movie or TV, but high definition video is out of the question. Also due to the integrated graphics, I found some recent games or even some older games, will not run on the laptop. Toshiba notes in their warranty that attempting to change the video card will void the warranty, which I found to be extremely frustrating. The speakers are also a great disappointment. The sound quality is tinny and limited. I almost always wear headphones when using the laptop. And with only two USB ports, it is difficult to add accessories onto the laptop without having to constantly switch. Despite the peculiar name, I've enjoyed my Toshiba Satellite L505-GS5037. It works reliably for what I bought it to do. Unfortunately, with some more product testing and a few better hardware decisions, it could have been a desktop computer replacement for me, but I'm not complaining when I only spent $599.99.
