Diggin' My Dell Vostro 1500 Despite Dodgy Battery![]() I bought it through the Internet auction site EBay for just under six hundred dollars, including shipping. It runs Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with 2 GB of RAM, 160 GB of hard drive space and a dual core Pentium processor, I felt this laptop would serve my needs for speed and storage well. Through the last year or so, I began to use my Vostro for some business use. As a CAD Drafter, I work with AutoCAD 2007, drafting software used by design professionals. Curious as to how this new laptop would handle the software, I downloaded it and began using it to bring work home with me on an almost daily basis. To my surprise my Vostro 1500 handled smoothly running this large program. The only problem I encountered, and it just happened recently, is that the battery did not last very long. Not just charge life, but the actual lifespan of the battery. I went about 15 months before the battery died on me, which meant that I could have the laptop plugged in, but as soon as the cord would accidentally get knocked out, I had about 10 minutes of charge to work on until the entire machine would shut down. Aside from this issue I ran into with the battery, I am generally satisfied with my Dell Vostro 1500. Today you can pick up models much cheaper than when I bought mine in 2009.
